Ken Watanabe as "Katsumoto" in The Last SamuraiThe Last Samurai is a breath-stealing, enthralling epic, humorous at times and deft in the sensitive portrayals of its well-drawn characters--often without the aid of dialogue. Set mostly in rural Japan during the Meiji Restoration, it attempts, and mostly succeeds, to pack the stories of several complex, historical figures into one unified drama through fictional characters inspired by real Japanese people. Ken Watanabe's most recent movies were T.R.Y., a drama about college students who get caught up in an Asian international arms-smuggling ring and award-winning Hi wa mata noburu (The Sun Will Rise Again) the true story of a private company that took on Sony in the race to create the world's first videocasette standard. Ken's most recent television drama was award-winning Suna no utsuwa (Vessel of Sand), a 11-installment mystery drama. His upcoming projects include Kita no zeronen (Year One in the North), a historical epic about Samurai fighting for survival after forced migration to the northern island of Hokkaido during the Meiji era (January 15, 2005); Batman Begins, a long-awaited "fresh start" to the Batman series, to be directed by Christopher Nolan (who's focusing on pleasing the comic-book fans and not little kids) (June 17, 2005); and Memoirs of a Geisha, based on the best-selling historical novel by Arthur Golden, about a girl sold into slavery at a young age and forced into the life of the geisha. |

The Obedient DogI no longer have time to teach dog obedience, but I will update the site occasionally with information. There is a lot already there! I stronly recommend group obedience for most dogs, and especially those who require private training. I find the group-lesson environment is condusive to encourage owners to truly commit to working with their dogs and changing their habits, and do some of the repetitive excersizes neccessary to teach/re-train the dog in a paced and logical manner. The companionship and observation that occurs in group classes tends to inspire owners to be more pro-active. Not to mention, it is best to train the dog in a challenging environment--with distractions! |

TMS DancerI am not teaching line-dancing anymore...I stopped when I went back to school and have other activities that I participate in. However, you might find this site of interest for some song lyrics and line-dance stepsheets, some of which are hard-to-find oldies. Hopefully, I will eventually have time to complete my XML dance-sheets project, in which case it will be much easier to add dances to this set...when that happens, I'll have forms to be used to send in step descriptions in the proper format |
